Stacy Hootman

What I hope to accomplish while serving on the Board of Directors: 

My first goal is bringing together science educators at all levels (K-16) and with all levels of experience to collaborate and share best practices in science education.  My second goal is to increase knowledge across Indiana about HASTI and what it has to offer in terms of professional development and support for teachers.  My third goal is that every teacher who interacts with HASTI in any way feels welcome, heard, and valued.

Craig Williams HASTI Position: Vice-President

School  information:  Northwestern High School, Kokomo, IN.  Physics/ICP teacher. 

What I hope to accomplish while serving on the Board of Directors

My first goal as Vice-President is to communicate with high school teachers around the state, to make them aware of the opportunities at HASTI.  My second goal is to collaborate with other teachers to work out the best ways to implement student-centered science instruction that is interdisciplinary, engaging to students and their interests, and involves students in building, applying, and evaluating scientific models.

What I hope to accomplish while serving on the Board of Directors:  

While serving on the Board of Directors for HASTI it is my goal to help improve PD opportunities for individuals teaching science. I would also like to serve as an advocate for science teaching policies and spark interest in STEM careers for students.

What I hope to accomplish while serving on the Board of Directors:  

As a member of the board, I will provide the opportunity to offer guidance, resources and support. In addition, I am determined to develop future incentives for all educators to join and participate in the HASTI family. I aim to support educators to be disseminators of knowledge; thus, helping to elevate the quality of science education in Indiana. My goal has always been and will always be to service all K-16 educators past, present, and future by upholding our mission statements and promoting HASTI involvement by sharing concepts, activities, and strategies.

 What I hope to accomplish while serving on the Board of Directors: 

I hope to supply elementary teachers with resources and professional development to teach science and STEM with confidence.

Suzanne Cunningham

School Information:

Purdue University:  graduate student in the College of Education, Curriculum & Instruction

What I hope to accomplish while serving on the Board of Directors:  

Increase my participation in HASTI annual meetings and professional development opportunities.  I would like to meet with middle school science teachers from each of the nine Indiana districts, hopefully in person (evening or during weekend).  Workshops and discussion sessions would be held

What I will do as a board member:  I will cultivate partnerships with Indiana science educators, higher education, the Indiana Department of Education, and other key stakeholders to increase awareness of HASTI and help continue HASTI’s good work to advance science teaching and learning in Indiana.

While on the HASTI board of directors It is my hope to make Science education more accessible to all portions of society, especially the under-represented and/or the underfunded.

As a board member, I hope to increase the participation in HASTI by bringing in new teachers or teachers who don't know about HASTI by using digital and social media platforms so that all can know about the great works being done at HASTI!

As a board member of HASTI, it is my goal to make all science teachers and administrators in my district aware of the organization.  My second goal is to support any new science teachers.

I hope to promote membership in HASTI by using our current members to get new teachers at their school to join our group.

What I hope to accomplish while serving on the Board of Directors: 

My interests are in building HASTI leadership and relationships with other Indiana professional organizations for the long-term health of our organization.  As a teacher advocate, I am committed to supporting classroom teachers and informal educators in their professional development goals thru HASTI events and publications, especially as it relates to research translation and content updates.

What I hope to accomplish while serving on the Board of Directors: 

As historian, I will preserve, categorize, collect, and increase the historical holdings of HASTI.  I will be working from the information that Ed Frazier has already begun.  As we approach our 50th anniversary conference, I will be creating items that will be a trip down memory lane.
