The Indiana State Museum has summer employment. They are looking for contract educators to lead some of their summer camps as well as summer camp counselors and have had teachers in the past who were great in these positions.

They are also offering several AmeriCorps member summer positions as well.  These are great service positions in which members can earn a small living stipend, earn an education award towards grad school or other educational opportunities and receive other AmeriCorp benefits.  Might be a great fit for some young teachers or pre-service teachers as well.

Eco-Science Challenge

Applications for project submissions to be judge and eligible for awards is April 8^th.  If teachers or students are interested in just showcasing a project, they can reach out to Nicole Rife, Director of Education, at nrife@indianamuseum.org. 

Tinkerfest is a daylong celebration of curiosity and creativity!  Explore 15+ hands-on, interactive activity stations hosted by the maker community designed to engage and inspire Indiana’s designers, builders, coders, artists, makers, and tinkerers of all ages. Each activity invites children and families to tinker, make, invent, create, play and imagine!  We are looking for students that might have an engineering, robotics or other makerspace type project that they’d like to showcase and share with families and visitors to the event.  We also want to promote the event itself for families to visit the museum that day.

The ISM has an exhibit from the Pittsburgh Children’s Museum called How People Make Things which is all about manufacturing of every day objects.  It’s geared toward elementary students and a great interactive exhibit.  Here is a link with more information.  https://www.indianamuseum.org/experiences/how-people-make-things/

Kid Inventors’ Day Student Competition

January 1^st – January 31^st  

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science Education (ORISE) wants to celebrate with all K-12 students by letting them express their creativity and problem solving skills through an invention. We are asking that you use the engineering design process and develop your own invention to solve a problem in your community. TWELVE prizes will be awarded with three winners per grade band. Math Music Madness Lesson Plan Competition

January 1^st – January 31^st  

The Oak Ridge Institute for Science and Education (ORISE) wants to see how you can incorporate music into a STEM lesson plan to help build a better understanding of a subject. All K-12 teachers are invited to create and submit a math or science lesson plan that incorporates music for a chance to win a mini-grant! Three teachers who submit lesson plans will be selected to receive mini-grants up to $1,500 to help buy equipment for their classroom! eCYBERMISSION is an online STEM competition for students in grades 6 to 9. Students work in teams of 2 to 4 under the guidance of a Team Advisor to choose a problem in their community to explore with science or solve with engineering. Throughout the competition, students work on team building and interact with STEM professionals virtually while competing for state, regional, and national awards. eCYBERMISSION supports phenomenon-based learning, directly aligns with Next Generation Science Standards, and is administered by NSTA (National Science Teaching Association).
