HASTI Awards - 2022
The following awards will be recognized during the 2022 HASTI State Conference February 13- 15, 2022. Awardees will be recognized during the HASTI 50th Anniversary Gala on Sunday, February 13, 2022. Read the descriptions of each award and submit your nomination and materials needed to the link provided below the award description.

Cheryl Cowan Memorial Award for Innovative Elementary Science Teaching
Nominees must be full-time certified classroom teachers in a pre-school or elementary classroom in the state of Indiana. The nominee may, but is not required, to be a current HASTI member.
Teachers may self-nominate for this award
Nominators must be active HASTI members and provide the following information to the Awards Manager.

Charlotte M. Boener Memorial Award for Innovative Middle School Science Teaching
The Charlotte Boener Award for Innovative Middle School Science Teaching is awarded annually by the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc. to an outstanding middle school teacher who exhibits a passion for innovative science teaching.
Nominees must be full-time Indiana certified middle/intermediate level classroom science teachers. The nominee may, but is not required, to be a current HASTI member.
Nominators must be active HASTI members and provide the following information to the Awards Manager.

Clyde Motts Memorial Award for Innovative High School Science Teaching
The Clyde Motts Award for Innovative High School Science Teaching is awarded annually by the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc, to an outstanding high school teacher who exhibits a passion for innovative science teaching.
In addition to the honor of being selected for this prestigious award, HASTI will present a cash award of $100.00, a one-year HASTI membership, and a recognition plaque to the recipient.
Nominees must be full-time classroom teachers in the state of Indiana (Certified Science Teacher in Grades 9-12). The nominee may, but is not required, to be a current HASTI member.

Innovative College Science Teaching Award
The Distinguished Award for Innovative College Science Teaching is awarded annually by the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc. to an outstanding college science teacher who exhibits a passion for innovative science teaching.
Nominees must be full-time college science teachers in the state of Indiana. The nominee may, but is not required to be a current HASTI member.

Gene Stratton Porter Environmental Educator Award
The Gene Stratton-Porter Environmental Science Award is given annually to an Indiana science teacher who exemplifies the spirit of the great Hoosier naturalist and author, Gene Stratton-Porter. The candidate exemplifies curiosity, independence, love of nature, and appreciation of the importance of science and the natural world.
The cash award of $500 is given in memory of Evelyn Garvin McCabe, who was a devoted fan of Gene Stratton-Porter. The awardee will also be given a one year HASTI membership.
Candidates may be nominated by both HASTI members and non-members. The candidate may, but is not required to be a current HASTI member.
Candidates should be full-time certified K--12 classroom teachers or informal science educators in the state of Indiana.
Candidates may self-nominate for this award.

Edward Frazier Distinguished Service Award
This prestigious award is given to a HASTI active member who demonstrates distinguished service and leadership as seen through participation in committies for HASTI and serving on the HASTI Board of Directors.
Nominators must be active HASTI members and provide the following information to the Awards Manager.
Packet must include:
- Vita of Nominee (include a work history, honors or recognition received, and examples of leadership within their profession.)
- Describes the outstanding nature of the nominee’s distinguished service to HASTI. Provide specific examples of the nominee’s service and influence on HASTI including service on the HASTI Board of Directors.
- Provide one additional letter of support (no more than one page) from HASTI members.
