Title: Workshop on mentoring FIRST Lego League robotics team

Are you or someone you know interested in coaching or mentoring a FIRST Lego League robotics team, but want to learn more and/or find the programming daunting? If so, check out this workshop Wednesday, June 28 from 1:30-5:30 pm at the 2017 ASEE Annual Conference and Exposition: Competing Effectively in FIRST Lego League Robotics.

The primary focus will be the area many people find most intimidating: programming. It will cover many of the tasks that must be done by the robot in any competition:

·         - moving forward and backward precise distances;
·         - turning;
·         -  finding and following lines; and
·         - following walls without touching them.
·         Participants will learn how to do these activities at beginner, intermediate, and advanced levels. We will provide robots and laptops to use during the workshop, although you may also use your own laptop with the EV3 software installed.

In addition to the programming, we will offer guidance and tips for preparing your team(s) in all four aspects of FIRST Lego League competition: the Robot Game, Robot Design Judging, Project Judging, and Core Values Judging. The organizer has five years of experience coaching FIRST Lego League teams at regional, state, and international competition levels.

We are just trying to cover expenses for the workshop, so it only costs $50 per person, including refreshments. If you have any questions, please let me know. If you know someone who may be interested in the workshop, please forward this note to them.
